Organizing Your Beauty Box

Hello Lovelies …

Almost all of us do have beauty boxes which are our lovely possessions. Mine is a box with a good height and can carry a lot of my makeup items. This kind of a box is a blessing specially when u r travelling. It can carry small makeup kits, my brushes, even a small hair dryer. It is closed with a zipper so carrying it is even easier and safe when I am carrying it around.

There was, however, one big problem; I used to dump all my stuff into this box and while doing my makeup I had to dig into the box and look for the items I needed that time.

Here is a look of my beauty box originally:

  20131228_170957

I thought there was an immense need to properly organize the items in the box – and this is what I did.

I used some old tissue rolls and placed them in the box. then I placed my pencils, brushes and foundation bottle etc into them; now they are neatly arranged and easily found. Also, I cut some of the tissue rolls in half and separated one section of my beauty box with the shorter toilet rolls and placed my smaller makeup items like lipsticks and kajal sticks etc there.

Here is a screenshot of how it looks after this arrangement:

I am quite satisfied after this arrangement and finding things has been easy peasy after doing this. If you have some great organizing ideas, please share : )

Reuse Old Compact Powder Boxes

I have an innate desire to reuse everything that comes my way … a big challenge was to think about something which would fit in my old compact powder box which was empty now. These boxes already have mirrors so these are good to keep stuff in … so here is a simple fix for that … normally we do keep some jewelry items in our handbag during the day. so why not put them inside an old compact powder box … Simple & easy.

I also found that you can mix a liquid foundation & moisturizing lotion to make your own tinted moisturizer and keep it in an old compact powder box which is a handy tip as well.

How do you reuse the old compact powder boxes – share any tips that you might have!!

Nail Art Simulator–Virtual Nail Salon

Hey girls, I am really fond of trying different kinds of nail arts on my nails. I wont say that I am very good at it anyhow I try various styles just to keep practicing and I hope someday ill be better at it hehe !!

I have some samples of the nail arts I have done in this album on my facebook page here.

20130526_131921 20130717_233243 20130731_002710

Recently I tried a few nail arts and I couldn’t get the shapes the way I expected them, and then I looked it up on internet and turned out I was doing the wrong steps to make certain shapes; that time I had to remove my nail polish all over and redo all the nail art to get the shapes right, that’s when I thought how nice it would be if I had a trial nail simulator to try out everything before trying it out on my actual nail and without wasting any of my nail polish as well. There, I got an idea… I had a few makeup applications in my android phone and I just realized if I had a nail art simulating application on my phone how nice it would be to see how exactly I should do the nail art before doing it actually on my nails. I searched the play store for nail art simulators and I found out a few applications. I installed some of them and tried them out. I would mention the best application I found and will discuss its features here with you guys so that its helpful for all you girls out there as well.

Its name is Modiface – Virtual Nail Salon and it can be downloaded from here.

  • It has plenty of nail colors to choose from and you can even choose one nail to see how the nail art will look on your nails.
  • You have a list of available hand samples or you can take picture of your own hand and use that one as a model.
  • It allows you to change nail color consistency and opacity to show how the nail color will look on your hands

Have any of you used any other nail art application which has been useful for you. Please share with all of us here.

How I Organize My Sandals!

I am a huge lover of sandals and shoes, and its hard for me to stop myself from buying more and more sandals everytime I go to the market. Buying sandals is more of a fun experience for me but the issue becomes when I come home and the closet which I used to store my shoes is full and I don’t have any place to keep the new shoes :D hehe… yes that happened with me many times.

another issue which I come across normally when I put my sandals in a closet or a shoe rack is that very soon the area is filled up with shoes and you start putting the shoes above each other, normally this results in only the shoes which are visible to you to be used and the others stay buried under the rest.

Normally I don’t put my sandals in open because of a lot of dust in the environment and no one wants to see the sandals getting older even without using them.

However, I have found my solution to this problem; and I found it on a facebook page. It is an amazing shoe storage box which amazingly fixes all the above mentioned issues. it is a zipped shoe storage box with special compartments for the shoes, it is covered with transparent plastic so you can see the shoes through the cover. it saves your shoes from dust and the compartments are big enough that more than one flat sandals can be stored in a single compartment. it comes in two different sizes, one for 6 pairs and one for 12 pairs of shoes. I wanted to try this product out so I ordered the small one first to see how it works for me.

IMG_20130720_124757

I loved this product so much that I ordered five more pieces in the large size. I took all my sandals out of the closet and arranged them in these boxes. some of my flats were accommodated in one compartment, thus saving the space. Ever since then I feel this is a blessing that I bought these for myself. The shoes are readily visible, and dust free. I am really happy that I bought it and I surely recommend it to others.

Here is the box in opened state:

DIY - Makeup Stuff holder

I love DIY projects and reusing stuff which normally people throw away.
Recently I came across an idea and simply loved it. I practically implemented it and want it to share with all of you. The best thing is that it makes use of the item that we throw away ... Yes ... Tissue Paper Rolls. People hardly save these and throw these away as soon as a new tissue roll is required. But hello, you can use these rolls for a number of DIY projects; so you better start saving them up. Let me tell you what you might need for this project:

  1. Tissue Paper Rolls. As many as you want
  2. A cardboard tray - I used a shoe box cover (recycling here too)
  3. Wrapping Paper - Any print that you like
  4. Glue/tape
  5. Scissors
  • The first step is to cut the wrapping sheet in equal sizes to cover the tissue paper rolls completely and then glue the wrapping sheet to the individual rolls. You can use different prints for the wrapping sheets but I used the same sheet on all of the rolls
  • After that you can wrap the tray/shoe box cover with the printed sheet as well. I did not cover mine as it was already a very good print so I didnt feel like covering it.
  • After this I glued the tissue rolls on the shoe box cover and placed them in a regular pattern.
  • Let it dry overnight and TA-DA !!! you have your very own makeup stuff tray with holders the next morning.

I am in love with this creation and I have many more ideas to use these cardboard rolls in. Will be sharing with you !!

Basic Lip Care & a DIY Lip Scrub

Hey my beauties, I am sure all of you girls must have faced the dry, flaky lips issue at least once in your life. Well, for me, its kind of a routine issue which occurs every two months or so. However, I have found a cool tip which is very simple and effective.

However, first I will discuss a few things which you need to do to keep your lips hydrated:
  1. Drink lots of water - Simple!
  2. Always apply a thin layer of lip blam/petroleum jelly before going to bed.
  3. If you have VERY dry lips which often bleed, try this one simple tip. Put 2-3 drops of olive oil (or any oil will do) in your belly button. Lock with a cotton ball; and go to sleep. Your lips will be softy soft the next morning. You can repeat this everyday.
  4. Stop biting your lips.
There are many exfoliants and lip scrubs available in the market but I am always up for something which is less expensive and quicker than all of these things. I have tried a number of things but here I am going to share with you the simplest and the easiest thing which i found to be working the best.

Here are two simple things you will need for this easy recipe:
  1. Sugar - Yes, plain sugar ... Quantity depends on how flaky your lips are; but 1 tablespoon is more than enough. If you are a regular in applying this scrub then 1 tea spoon is sufficient for you.
  2. Petroleum jelly. I use Vaseline Petroleum jelly but any unscented petroleum jelly will do for you.

Now, here is what you have to do, remove any lipstick or lip gloss you have on your lips, dip your finger in the petroleum jelly and then dip it in sugar. Now your finger will have sugar crystals stuck to it. Rub these crystals gently on your lips in small circular motions. Dont be very harsh because if your lips are very dry, harsh rubbing can result in bleeding. Repeat it for about 3-5 minutes. You will feel your lips flake free and freshly colored (yes thats the color of your new skin which was hiding behind the flakes). After being done with it, wash your hands, dry your lips. You can also use soap on the lips to wash away the greasy and sticky feeling if you want. After cleaning and drying out your lips, apply plain petroleum jelly or any lip balm you like.

You can repeat the above scrub recipe every week. Its simple and quick. Share your comments after trying this out girls.

Review - Saeed Ghani's Aloe Vera Serum

20130305_01250620130305_01264920130305_012556
I am a hugeeeeeeee fan of the herbal products and homemade diy's for the skincare and Aloe Vera is one of my favorite herbs for skin care. I even have an aloe vera plant at my home for quick skincare recipes.

Recently I came across aloe vera serum in Saeed Ghani's shop and I just HAD to try this out.
It is a small bottle and comes with a spray. The liquid is clear and almost odorless.

It is not too much high priced and I got it for PKR 90/- from Saeed Ghani's shop in Super Market Islamabad.

Now lets come to the results ... honestly I didnt expect it to do wonders overnight and was just using the first bottle I purchased as a regular regime before my moisturizer. After using it only for about 5 days regularly, I started seeing visible difference in my skin, my pores were never open or big but I felt the difference in my skin and refined pores after using this serum. My skin was more supple, and felt more firm. The complexion was even toned to quite a good extent. I also felt the really fine lines disappearing thus making my skin more young and fresh.

Initially I didnt understand what made my skin so vibrant in just 5 days but then I realized that it was the only new thing in those days that I had started using. All the other stuff that I applied on my skin was the same and nothing had changed. I was really impressed by the product's results and I am surely recommending it to all of you girls out there.

For your reference, I am also writing down the way I used this serum as this might be of some help for you people:

  1. My first step in the night was to cleanse my skin using a cleanser and cotton. The cleanser I have been using for almost 2-3 years is Garnier Skin Naturals Essentials Grape Water Makeup Remover Milk. Read Review here.
  2. After cleansing my skin thoroughly with the cleanser, when the cotton ball stops to pick anymore dirt and dust from your face. I applied plain rose water on my face with a cotton ball. Rose water is a natural, less expensive and great toner and I refrain from using any other toners with harsh chemicals in them.
  3. Now here is where the serum from Saeed Ghani jumps in. I apply it before applying my moisturizer. Just a few sprays either directly on my face or on my hands and then applying on my face did the trick.
  4. After applying the serum, I waited for a while till it dried and then applied my usual moisturizer. I normally use Clean & Clear Oil free moisturizer but during the winters I use Ponds Moisturizing Cold Cream. I massage the moisturizer softly on my face.
In the morning, my routine was the following:

  1. I washed my face with the usual face wash and dried it.
  2. Applied the Saeed Ghani Aloe Vera Serum on face.
  3. Applied my usual moisturizer the same way I did during the night regime.
Have any of you girls used this serum? Please share your thoughts. I would love to hear from you.
Also, I would also tell you in a future post that how can you make aloe vera serum yourself at your home. Isn't that GREAT.

Have fun all you ladies !!!

Review - Hand Warmers by "Designs by Daisy"

We all know that winter is here and we are all stuffing up our closets with warm clothes, sweaters, mufflers and loads and loads of jackets and coats. For me, winter affects my hands and feet the most so i am looking forward for ways to keep my hands and feet warm. I have gloves but somehow gloves make writing, typing and other activities a bit tedious for me so i was looking forward for something that would help me keep my hands warm while letting my fingers breathe openly. I never knew something like this existed until I visited a small home based business called "Designs by Daisy".

I was amazed with the variety and quality of their products. As a trial I got myself two beautiful pairs of hand warmers from "Designs by Daisy".

The pairs I chose were beautiful dark maroon & a green with touch  of sky blue; both of these are beautifully woven. Each pair is very warm also and thankfully leaves my fingers open which help me do my typing easily n quickly.
